Buxa Fort-Lepchakha

Buxa is a beautiful village in the deep of Buxa Tiger Reserve (BTR) core area located in the Buxa hills of the southern hilly area of Bhutan in the Alipurduar Sub-division of Jalpaiguri District within Buxa Tiger Reserve of West Bengal. Its apt for adventure lovers and trek enthusiasts. A Kms trek from Santarabari anothe village will take you to buxa village. The hole journey is really an enjoyable one passing through dense forests, taking rest in small habitats of local people feeling raw touch of nature. Finally reaching to the ruins of Buxa Fort used as a high security prison and detention camp in the 1930s, it was the most notorious and unreachable prison in India after the Cellular Jail in Andaman.

A 5 kilometers further further trek will take us to beautiful bhutanese village Lepchakha. From the open arena of the hill top village you can get a panoramic view of total Buxa valey . You can actually see all 7 three  rivers of buxa valey at one glance with Alipurduar town, Jayanti riverbed, Santalabari ,hills of Mahakal, Chuna bhatti and Rovers point which together makes it a great trek . The peace and  mesmerising  beauty of the place will make you   pay visit again and again.Just take a mug of tea and sit on the open space overlooking the vast expanse in front will help you find yourself. Time stands still in this absolute heaven of peace.
